Getting the Most From Your Cleanup Day

    Before the Day

Pick a date at least two weeks out. Check the weather forecast the night before. Ask volunteers to RSVP so you know how many gloves and bags to bring. Walk the area once ahead of time and note any problem spots like broken glass, needles, or heavy debris that needs special handling.

    On the Day

Start with a short safety talk. Hand out gloves and bags. Assign teams to different zones. Keep a first-aid kit visible. Take a group photo at the start and another at the end with the filled bags. People like to see the difference they made.

    After the Cleanup

Take all filled bags to the agreed drop-off point. Thank your volunteers. Share photos in your group chat or on a community board. Write down what went well and what to change next time. Save this checklist and reload it for your next event.

    Common Mistakes

Not bringing enough trash bags. Forgetting water for volunteers. Picking a spot too large for your group. Skipping the safety talk. Not arranging bag pickup ahead of time. Trying to do everything in one hour when you need three.
